Pakistan Imposes Strict Security Measures Amid Opposition Rally

 Islamabad, Pakistan - In an effort to thwart an opposition rally, Pakistan enforced stringent security measures, suspending mobile phone services and locking down the capital, Islamabad, on Friday. 



The measures were aimed at preventing supporters of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan from marching on the city.

Thousands Demand Imran Khan's Release
 Despite the restrictions, thousands of protesters gathered in Islamabad to demand Khan's release.

To maintain control, authorities: - Suspended mobile phone services in Islamabad and surrounding areas.
 - Deployed over 300 containers to block roads.
 - Closed the M1 motorway at Burhan. - Stationed security forces, including riot police and paramilitary troops.

 Allies and foes urged PTI to postpone protests, citing concerns over timing and potential unrest. 
Notably: 
 - Interior Minister, Sarfraz Bugti, appealed for calm. 
- Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, advised against the rally.

 Defiance and Determination

 PTI leader, Ali Gandapur, vowed to reach D-Chowk, the designated protest site, despite obstacles. "We will not be deterred by these measures," Gandapur said.
